Intelligent visual recognition startup picks up Silver Award from the Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF) annual Awards (2013) on its maiden debut.
National University of Singapore (NUS) spin-off company, ViSenze, was presented with the Silver Award in the category of Emerging Technology at the SiTF 2013 Awards Ceremony and ICT Industry Gala Dinner held on 10th October 2013. The award recognizes ViSenze’s innovation, uniqueness of solution and potential in helping digital businesses address challenges in visual Web with its large-scale multiplatform contextual visual recognition and search technology. In this year’s SiTF Awards, SiTF received more than 290 nominations from start-ups, established corporations and public institutions across varied sectors. After the Preliminary Judging which took place on 30 July to 1 August, some 80 submissions were shortlisted for the three-day Final Judging which took place from 20 – 22 August 2013.
“Securing this award on our maiden entry is certainly an honour and major achievement for us, especially in the presence of such highcalibre entrants and strong contenders in this year’s competition. The award also recognizes the quality and application of our visual technology solutions, as well as attest to the fast growing market potential of the space we operate in,” said Oliver Tan, CEO and one of the four founders of ViSenze.
Engineered to help digital businesses in ecommerce, online advertising and social networking make intelligent sense of web images and videos, ViSenze’s algorithm based visual solutions are used by Internet companies such as Rakuten and Clozette today.
The prestigious SiTF Awards, organised by Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF), provide recognition to innovative ICT Applications / Solutions, which are developed in Singapore. The award, championed by the industry is an important accolade to infocomm innovations in Singapore. The judges who preside over the competition are distinguished individuals; amongst them are luminaries of ICT industry, venture capitalists, investors and academia. Over 70 senior executives and veterans, in the Information, Communications and Media (ICM) industry, were involved as judges over six days to select top-notch innovative submissions.
