I moved to Ireland on a temporary visa in October of 2017. After a few months of exploring the country, I found a job posting for an intern role at an exciting visual AI company with an office in Dublin. After an interview with John, Yulu, and HR I was hired on as an SE intern. Six months later I was hired on as the full-time SE for Europe. The opportunity was unlike anything I had heard of before and required a great deal of on-the-job learning.

2. What is your role in ViSenze?

My role as a Solution Consultant is to sit at the intersection of Sales, Support, and Product to serve as a customer-facing product expert for all ViSenze solutions. I am involved with customers throughout the lifecycle of early-stage discovery, day-to-day support, and post-sales customer success. At the same time, I consolidate feedback and requests from customers and other field team members to inform product growth and new opportunities.

3. Tell us something personal/fun about yourself.

Upon returning to the US in early 2021 (and more relaxed restrictions) I have spent the past few months learning new sports/skills. Including getting my motorcycle license, scuba diving certification, whitewater rafting, test-flying a Piper propeller plane and surfing.

Eileen Lim
(Furniture and Home Decor Products Specialist)

1. Happy Staff Anniversary. Introduce yourself and tell us why you decided to join ViSenze 3 years ago!

Hi, Eileen here, and I am the furniture domain expert in ViSenze. I was previously in the furniture industry where I designed furniture that was used in office settings. I joined Visenze because I came from quite a traditional industry and I was curious about how Visenze’s technology could be used to transform the furniture industry.

2. What is your role in ViSenze?

As the Furniture and Home Decor Product Specialist (such a long title, haha), I bridge the gap between furniture customer requirements and certain aspects of technicality in AI. I do so by doing market trends research, in-depth client analysis, and also assisting data scientists in the model development process. Apart from the furniture domain, I also partake in fashion, general products, and NLP models.

3. Tell us something personal/fun about yourself.

I have way too many hobbies, with the latest ones being pottery, skateboarding, and film photography. Oh, and I love bungee jumps!

Quang Hanh Nguyen
(Staff Research Software Engineer)

1. Happy Staff Anniversary. Introduce yourself and tell us why you decided to join ViSenze 3 years ago!

I’m Hanh from Vietnam. I did my PhD in NTU, Singapore, and ViSenze was my first job ever in the (IT) industry. Three years ago, having several offers, I eventually decided to join ViSenze for my first impression on the interview that every person I’d met was really friendly, open, and sincere. I also sensed a vibrant atmosphere in the office and knew that it would be both challenging and fun working here with all these passionate people.

2. What is your role in ViSenze?

I am a member of the API team, and I work on the algorithm service systems. In my job, I design and develop pipelines and services to ensure that algorithms and models developed by our data scientists and algorithm engineers are released, deployed, and maintained in our production environment reliably and efficiently.

3. Tell us something personal/fun about yourself.

I am a big fan of the sitcom Friends. I’ve watched the 10 seasons of Friends again and again so many times since secondary school that I lost count, and till now I still giggle watching Friends clips on my Facebook feed.

Khoa Le Tan Dang
(Research Software Engineer)

1. Happy Staff Anniversary. Introduce yourself and tell us why you decided to join ViSenze 3 years ago!
   

My name is Khoa and I come from Vietnam. I’m kind of a nerd, loving reading sci-fi books and playing video games.
I happened to know Visenze long before joining the company when I explored the NUS-WIDE dataset (developed by Lab of Media Search – NUS) while doing research. Later, I applied to several AI-related jobs at different companies in Singapore and only Visenze impressed me the most. Not only by the technology Visenze developed but also by the people here. 

2. What is your role in ViSenze?

I am from the Algorithm Team. My main responsibility is the detection component of our search/tagging solutions (If you find any issues or the detection returns funny results, you can blame me 😀 ). Occasionally, I explore other topics such as 3D vision (Shoe AR project) and vector compression (cost-saving projects).

3. Tell us something personal/fun about yourself.

My fun (and nerdy) activity on the Internet is to read the references and discussions of some random Wikipedia entries.

Adam Wang

1. Introduce yourself and tell us why you decided to join ViSenze 3 years ago!

Hi, I am Adam Wang. Before I came to Singapore in 2018, I knew that ViSenze is a unique company that focused on AI and computer vision search in Singapore, and more importantly ViSenze is in an entrepreneurial environment full of agility.

2.  What is your role in ViSenze?

I am from Algorithm Team at ViSenze and I work on algorithms to improve the user experience of search and recommendation

3. Tell us something personal/fun about yourself.

Three years ago, I was a bit on the unhealthy end. After joining the ViSenze family, I decided to insist on exercising every day, and I no longer had health problems in the last 3 years. It helps me keep more productive and even creative when working.

Alicia Chen
(Software Engineer)

1. Introduce yourself and tell us why you decided to join ViSenze 3 years ago!

I’m Alicia, a software engineer at ViSenze. 3 years ago, I discovered ViSenze and was intrigued by the AI solutions that ViSenze has. I was also seeking a startup work culture to see if it was a right fit, and the rest is history.

2. What is your role in ViSenze?

I am from the Catalog-Enrichment team at ViSenze and mainly focus on web applications development. I work together with my colleagues to deliver new features to the Discovery Suite, as well as maintaining some of the client-facing applications and workflows.

3. Tell us something personal/fun about yourself.

I enjoy solving Rubik’s cube (3×3) and may have spent too much on cubes than I probably should.
